2 yrs ago, us 2 ladies went out on the trapline when no one else wanted to because of slushy conditions. Although it was tough, it was a great honor to carry this lynx out of the bush for the Unist’ot’en. Ceremony was performed for the spirit of the Waysi. It was a proud day because we endured snowshoeing in the slush to retrieve this gift from the ancestors. Freda has done tremendous work in building a place of healing and she is being recognized for her endeavors with this gift, Waysi. Freda has asked me numerous times to be there as a Wet’suwet’en rep when she couldn’t be there. This was one of those times. Everytime I go there, I feel exhilarated and refreshed. Always a healing experience for me. I stand in solidarity with the Unist’ot’en and the Gitdimt’en… I am grateful for the many times I visited the Unist’ot’en and I look forward to visiting again someday. Much love..
